Becky Oehler's "Compose A Card Challenge"

Here's my take on Becky Oehler's Challenge. The first card is a traditional Valentine's card using the recipe provided. The second is a card for a friend. I know it said colors and cutting...but I didn't have those colors. Sniff. Will definitely purchase them in my next PTI order.

American Crafts Valentine Notebook

Yes, another notebook. I used my stash of Valentine's paper from American Crafts. The stamp is from a Hero Arts set, and the punches are Marvy Uchida Clever Lever Scallop Oval and Oval. This is the full size notebook (5x8). Stay tuned for another notebook I made after modifying Nichole Heady's tutorial for the half size with pen holder.

I have wanted this set ever since I first saw it. This is PTI's In Bloom, and it's exactly what I expected. I stamped the biggest flower in black on pure poppy cardstock and cut out both flowers. I popped up the little one and stamped the sentiment from Damask Designs. Simple, just my style. I made the same card using Raspberry Fizz. Note to self: Stamp the sentiment before adhering the flowers...at least the popped up one. Lol.

Another Notebook

I made another notebook with ALL PTI supplies. I used Turning Leaf patterned paper, Bazzill cardstock, and PTI's Take Note stamp set. I also used the notebook template from Nichole Heady. Woo hoo for PTI!

Stationery Tote

I saw this tutorial FREE on Inking Idaho during Christmas break. I tried to make it, and then I realized I didn't have an oval and an oval scallop punch. Luckily, my savvy husband bought me an oval scallop for Christmas. However, he had no idea I needed the plain oval as well. I finally got it two weeks ago, thanks to Leish. Anyway, last weekend I finally attempted it again. For the cards, I made simple, stamped Kraft cards. I had to trim a jr. legal notepad...a lot to make it fit. There are envies on the left in that pocket. I also covered a binder clip.

I used the flower image from October Afternoon and the sentiment from a Hero Arts set. The patterned paper is PTI's In Bloom. I just got the In Bloom stamp set, and I LOVE IT. It looks comparable to SU's Fifth Avenue Floral, which I want but the price is a little prohibitive.

Seriously...

I made cards, notebooks, and a tote. I will post pictures Saturday sometime. I am LOVING PTI's cardstock. So thick. So yummy. I don't like pink... In fact, I HATE it, but I really, really like raspberry fizz.

Promises, Promises

So I did complete ONE project this weekend, but I haven't had the chance to take any good pictures of it. I hope to do that tomorrow.

However, I put in a big order for PTI because the hubby gave me a little fun money...and I got it today. I put the order in midnight Thursday, and I got my order today. How unbelievable is that. Here's a quick picture of my goodies...

Notebook with Pencil

Tonight I'll be working on a notebook/pencil set. I'm so excited because tonight is PTI's release party, and for the first time, I want EVERYTHING!

I've been wanting to work with a pencil for a while, but I couldn't figure out how to embellish it and still be able to sharpen it. Well, Nichole Heady, genius that she is, figured it out. Yay, her! I'll post some pics tomorrow if it doesn't get finished tonight. Super cute stuff, I tell you!

I didn't finish, so I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Simple Valentine

I used my AC stash to create another quick card. I cut the tree out of a piece of pp. I used a PTI stamp in SU chocolate chip on the bottom, right corner. Simple. Going to St. Jude's, dude!

10 minute cards

I realized last night that keeping up this blog is hard work, but it forces me to be creative for a little bit each day. As I sat in the office trying to whip out a card, I ruined one my smudging it with ink from my thumb. Darn...I kinda liked that one. I even took the time to stamp the inside, which is not like me. As I was putting the finishing touches on the inside, I realized I put a smudge on the scored area of the card. Boo!!!

I used an owl image and tried a new card. This one was quicker and easier. I might add a couple small touches, but I think this is pretty much done. This one is going to the St. Jude's card drive my friend Val told me about.

I need to finish my sister's wedding album, do a mini album for her with the pictures she gave me of her and mom, work on 3 baby girl mini albums, and ... there's a ton of projects I NEED to work on, so maybe this blog will help me focus.

Kids' Class Treats

I'm trying to figure out what to make for the kids to take to school for Valentine's Day. I know I'm going to use Tiny Treats: Valentine from PTI, but I have no idea what I'm going to make with the. At first, I was thinking of buying Fun Dips and creating matchbook covers for them, but... I have to make about 45, so I want something quick, easy, and cute. I want to use a minimum of cs because that's a lot of treats! Any ideas?

For the teachers, I'm thinking of making jr. legal notepads. I made two already, and I love, love, love them. I made the flowers using the tutorial on Dawn McVey's site. I love these so much I want to keep one. But I won't.

Feeling extremely lazy. Don't feel like working to flip the picture, but focus on that flower. So cool.

PTI Notebook Swap

I decided this year that I would try to expand my crafting horizons. A few weeks ago, I stumbled across a swap that really interested me. It was an altered notebook swap using PTI stamps. That's right up my alley. Plus, I thought that I could use my American Crafts stash. I signed up and then got anxious. Uh oh...my work would be judged. Too late. I already signed up.

Got a little push from Leish this morning when she told me she was signing up. Anyway, since I was spending the day helping "the challenging one" with his homework, I figured I'd work on the notebooks. I finished 'em. The inside pocket is CASED from Leish, since I thought her idea was fabulous!

Here they are...all four of 'em, finished, and ready to be mailed. You can't tell from the picture, but I popped up the scalloped circle with dimensionals.

Valentine's Treat #1

I realized that I some leftover stocking stuffer lip balms. I had seen little holders for them on Splitcoast. I decided to try to make them. Okay...they came out really cute, but because I don't have a necessary punch. So...my stupid lip balms keep slipping out. I think that because it's for the kids, I'll just pop a mini glue dot somewhere on the cylinder to keep it from sliding.

The one on the left is for Kawai. I thought that one was more girly. I used PTI's Tiny Treats: Valentine for the image and sentiment in the center. The one on the right is for Kahia. I used brown ribbon to make his more masculine looking. Okay, I know it's not exactly boyish. He's metro, anyway.

The second picture is of the inside. Sorry it's blurry. I was trying to take the pic without the kids seeing, and they're in the same room. I added two sentiments from the same PTI set. Patterned paper is from American Crafts...the huge kit I bought a month or so ago.

3x3 cards and envies... Part Deux

I finished the set of four notecards with envies. It turned out really boring. I used PTI's Take Note stamps with the 2" EK Success Scallop Punch for the sentiment. I love PTI because their stamp sets are made to work with particular punches, kinda like getting the most bang for your buck because face it, this is an expensive hobby. I'm thankful for a wonderful husband who understands my need to create stuff. I'm also thankful that he has no hobbies of his own...so there's money for me to spend on my "supplies." Tee hee. Sorry the pictures crappy, but I took it at night.

Tomorrow I'll have a project that's a bit more exciting. It's the start of my Valentine's projects for the kids' mailboxes. It was fun and easy after I figured out how to read. Lol. Stay tuned...

3x3 cards and envies...

Tonight, I was so stressed out from helping with homework that I thought I'd craft to relax. But my mojo is gone. Anything creative that could possibly come from my head is just not there. Boo hoo! I decided to try to find a 3x3 envie tutorial because I'd like to make more 3x3 cards to give away. I can't give 'em away if I don't have envies for 'em. So I found an easy tutorial and made a couple. Then, I decided that since I made a couple of envies, I should make the cards to go with it. And that's where I ran into problems... I made the cards, added PTI's In Bloom PP, and immediately got stuck. Yikes. Ribbon and buttons tomorrow...maybe. I hope my mojo comes back soon because I NEED to get those notebooks done for my swap. I will post the finished set as soon as I finish. If you see my mojo, please grab hold of it and bring it back to me.

2 Challenge Cards

At 11:30, I was still pretty wide awake so I thought I'd try to whip out a couple of cards. Yeah, me...whip anything out. Riiiiiight. Well, I decided to attempt Mish's "Hip to Be Square Challenge." How hard could it be? Mmmm hmmmmm. Anyway, it's now an hour later, and I'm finally done. I messed up the border punch on the first card, so I didn't get a funky border. The second card forced me to watch a bow tying tutorial, and my bow still isn't pretty. Oh, well. I accomplished my goal to craft, I guess...I also tried a new card format. I did a tent style card this time. I used my AC goodies and Kraft paper from PTI. I also used a Tiny Treats sentiment from PTI.

That's the sketch.

Here's my take on it.

Another take...

Desk sets

This Christmas, I made a few desk sets for Kahia and Kawai's teachers. I made the notecard holder from a tutorial by Val Stangle, a jr. legal notebook using Michelle Wooderson's ideas, and a post it note holder from Grace Tolman. I also made some matching binder clips just adhering patterned paper. I went to Office Max, bought a ream of paper and had them cut it into fourths to fit into the notecard box. Simple...simple.

Halloween Box

This Halloween, I made a box for Kahia's first grade teacher. I purchased the template from PTI. I like the way it came out. I used Bazzill CS and AC Halloween themed paper. I love the colors. I ended up filling it with Dove Bars.

Card Purses

I made card purses for all the women who went to Aunty Karen's house on Christmas. It was a fun little project. I included two Valentine's cards in each purse. It really fits four, but I didn't feel like making 32 cards. I only did two different designs, so everyone got the same cards.

Qbee's Dresser

Using QBee's tutorial, I made a little dresser for Kawai. I think she's storing lip glosses and body sprays in it. The original has two drawers on the top and one long drawer on the bottom. I didn't want to use up anymore of that paper set, so I ended up making two long drawers. She loves it though, and it's sitting on top of her REAL drawers.

I used a BasicGrey paper line. It's at least a year old, but I like the patterns.

Valentine's Mailboxes

I found the pattern for these on Splitcoast. I made four in all: one for Kahia, one for Kawai, one for me, and one for Dayna. Jay said he didn't want one. Starting February 1 until February 14, I'm planning on putting small treats and love notes in their mailboxes to show them just how loved they are. So far, I have a few ideas: tic-tacs, gum, lollipops, chapstick/lip gloss, cards... I can't wait. I know that I need to get started though. I'm hoping Walmart has some cheap goodies.

The Beginning

Someone asked me recently if I took pictures of all the things I made. Errrr, no. And since I've decided to scrap and craft more, I decided I needed a place to post these pictures. So this is the place. This is where I'll be posting all my pictures of whatever I create.
